This is a portrait on a petrol tank of Lana who died age 18 of a brain tumor.
It was a difficult commission as her parents had very few photos of her and the best picture was not particualy good. They wanted her hair (she had long, curly hair) streaming out beside her. Because of the poor reference picture, I suggested doing the portraits in blues and I also felt this would add a more surrean atmosphere to the painting.
I took photos of her parents, which we also agreed to paint in blues .

I then painted Lana again on the tank and mudguards of a trike
